48-HOUR FILM CHALLENGE

Can you do it? Start a film and finish it in 48 hours? Do you have the skills? Do you have the interest? Are you the next Wes Anderson or Alfred Hitchcock? Can you work yo a tight timeline and still achieve creative genius?

About the event

A. Deadlines, times and locations:

1. The 48 Hour Film Challenge will occur in the second to last week of the school year. There will be a series of workshops offered during the first 4 days of the challenge and then the rules and conditions of the challenge will be shared at mid-day on the Friday,15th June, 2018. All entries must be uploaded as MP4 files by mid-day Sunday 17th June, 2018 (48 Hours later)

2. Deadline: The participating STUDENTS must complete the film/video work within 48 hours of the start date. All entries must be uploaded as MP4 files by mid-day Sunday (48 Hours later). Also, the students submit the film's information and movie poster by 4pm on Monday 18th June to the 48 Hour Film Challenge.

3. A showcase “Red Carpet” evening will happen in the last week of school to showcase these films and award prizes in the 6 categories outlines below: -

1. Best Film

2. Best Original Music

3. Best Cinematography

4. Best Original Screen Play

5. Best Editing

6. Most Original use of technology.

4. The organizers must have the film(s) in their possession by 12:00 on Sunday 17th June, 2018. Any film(s) NOT submitted to the 48 Hour Film Challenge by 11:59am on this day will be disqualified.

5. Only works that meet the deadline will be officially part of the competition. All work must be completed within the 48-hour time slot allocated, including writing, filming, and editing. All filming locations must be shared and special permission sheets signed off prior to shooting.

6. ALL WORK (the writing, the filming, the editing, etc...) should be done within the designated 48-hours. Skills may be developed during workshops but no writing, filming or editing may occur prior to the film challenge. This time is for research and skills development only

B. All creativity must take place during the "Official 48 Hour Time Period":

Any creativity work in advance of the competition timeline is prohibited. Creative work includes, but is not limited to:

Script writing, rehearsing, filming, scoring and editing. These must ONLY be done during the official 48 Hour Time Period.
